Although Loch Lomond is the most popular and accessible of the Scottish lochs, it is still possible to escape the crowds and find solitude. Loch Lomond has numerous islands to explore in its southern part and this region of the loch provides idyllic canoeing in fine weather. The loch can be used as a base for climbing Ben Lomond, and is also an interchange for several longer canoe routes.
